My Approach

My approach aims to reweave belonging to self, community and the living world according to what your desired outcomes are.

I’ve been trained in Nature-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and EMDR. I also offer parts work that can include reparenting and inner child work. The work often includes somatic elements. As well as these orientations I have a background in the fine arts and life ways skills such as animal tracking, bird language, storytelling, and weaving that can be brought into the session if you are interested.

Who I Work With

I offer my counselling services in-person in nature (Cortes, Quadra & Campbell River) and through telehealth (online or by phone). I work with youth (11-17) and adults through individual and family (2 or more clients) sessions who are working with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, grief, life decisions, family issues, abuse recovery, self-esteem, queer issues, and more.

I work from a culturally sensitive, inclusive and trauma informed lens. I especially welcome 2SLGBTQIA+ folx and their families.

What is Artemisia

Artemisia is a genus of plants that includes mugwort and motherwort. These two plants are known for their medicinal and clearing qualities and helps to bring good dreams. Having these plants in one’s garden has at times denoted that the home is a place of safety for others seeking refuge. Archery has been a big part of my life and I’ve felt a synergy with the goddess Artemis as a guide on wisdom and having deep relationship with the living world. Finally, I am constantly humbled by the ever-growing learning edge that is a counselling practice. I see it as an artform that is ever deepening and expanding, and so having ‘art’ hidden in the name felt like an apt bonus.
